PSL 11 shake-up: several stars reclassified ahead of player auction

WEB DESK: The Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 11 auction is set to bring significant changes for local players, with revised category placements revealing promotions, demotions and notable reshuffles across franchises.

According to updated lists circulating ahead of the draft, a number of high-profile Pakistani cricketers have either moved up or down the category ladder, reflecting recent performances and franchise strategies.

At Islamabad United, Shadab Khan, Imad Wasim and fast bowler Naseem Shah have retained their spots in the prestigious Platinum category. Sahibzada Farhan has earned a major promotion from Gold to Platinum, while seasoned campaigners Sohail Tanvir and Mohammad Nawaz have also moved up from Diamond. In contrast, wicketkeeper-batter Azam Khan has slipped from Diamond to Gold.

Karachi Kings see mixed movement, with pacer Hassan Ali upgraded to Platinum, while emerging fast bowler Abbas Afridi drops from Platinum to Diamond. Khushdil Shah and Aamir Jamal have been reassigned from Diamond to Gold, whereas Irfan Munir has moved down to Silver. Captain Shan Masood remains unchanged in the Diamond bracket.

For Lahore Qalandars, star players Shahid Afridi, Fakhar Zaman and Haris Rauf continue in the Platinum category. Sultan Mirza has climbed from Gold to Diamond, and Mohammad Naim advances from Emerging to Silver.

Peshawar Zalmi’s Babar Azam and Saim Ayub maintain Platinum status, while Mohammad Haris and Mohammad Ali are shifted from Diamond to Gold.

Multan Sultans’ captain Mohammad Rizwan stays in Platinum. Osama Mir and Iftikhar Ahmed have moved into Diamond, while Mohammad Hasnain drops to Gold. Aaqib Javed earns promotion from Silver.

Quetta Gladiators retain Faheem Ashraf and Mohammad Amir in Platinum. Abrar Ahmed rises to Platinum, Waseem Junior and Othman Tariq move into Diamond, and Khawaja Nafees and Hassan Nawaz are promoted from Emerging to Gold.

The final categories will shape bidding dynamics when franchises assemble their squads for PSL 11.
