PSL 2024: PCB opens registrations for foreign players

LAHORE: The registration window for foreign players has officially opened in preparation for the upcoming ninth edition of the HBL Pakistan Super League, tentatively scheduled from February 8 to March 24.
“The category renewals of the local players will be finalised and published shortly as well. Following the category renewals, the trade and retention window will be opened. Once the trade and retention window is open, the pick order for the player draft for the upcoming season will also be shared,” the press releases issued by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) read.
The crucial decisions of player retentions and trades are to be made in advance of the HBL PSL 9 Player Draft, which is tentatively scheduled for mid-December. This timeline aligns with the conclusion of the National T20, with the final match set to take place on December 10 in Karachi.

Looking back at the previous season, it was Lahore Qalandars who emerged triumphant, defeating Multan Sultans in a thrilling final at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. In doing so, they achieved a remarkable milestone, becoming the first team to secure two successive HBL PSL titles. Meanwhile, Islamabad United claimed the third-place position, with Peshawar Zalmi finishing fourth in the standings. Karachi Kings and Quetta Gladiators closed out the season in the fifth and sixth positions, respectively. The anticipation for the upcoming season is palpable, as fans eagerly await the action-packed cricket spectacle that is the HBL Pakistan Super League.
