KARACHI: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has completed its valuation process for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises, according to a PCB spokesperson.
In an official statement, the PCB confirmed that it had sent renewal offers to all existing franchise teams, offering them a 10-year contract extension. The franchises have been directed to respond to the PCB’s offer within the stipulated timeframe, with the clock now ticking for teams to make their decisions.
This move marks a significant step in the league’s evolution, with the PCB reinforcing its commitment to long-term relationships with the franchises based on mutual respect.
In addition to the contract renewals, a chartered firm has also finalised the potential valuation for two new PSL teams. With the growing success and popularity of the tournament, the PCB is moving ahead with plans to expand the league. A tender for the sale of the new franchises will begin soon, with several cities already being considered for inclusion.
Potential new teams could represent cities such as Hyderabad, Sialkot, Muzaffarabad, Faisalabad, Gilgit, and Rawalpindi, all of which have shown growing interest in joining the PSL fold.
This expansion is expected to add even more excitement and competition to Pakistan’s premier cricket league, further solidifying the PSL’s place as one of the most vibrant cricket tournaments in the world.
MULTAN SULTANS FIASCO
For Pakistani PSL fans, another interesting unfolding event is the future of the current management of Multan Sultans. During the past few weeks and months, the PCB and Ali Khan Tareen have had a public feud with the latter also receiving legal notice from the former over his persistent criticism.
The tussle seemed to have resolved but the fans are still eagerly awaiting the official confirmation of Multan Sultans’ managerial team for the upcoming tournament.
