PSL’s Sialkot franchise reveals top contenders for team name ahead of PSL 11

Sialkot’s new Pakistan Super League team

Sialkot’s new Pakistan Super League (PSL) team is gearing up for PSL 11 and has already shortlisted five potential names. Fans could soon see Falcons, Stallions, Shaheen, Thunders, or Sixers taking the field.

The franchise is carefully reviewing branding and identity options, with the official team name and logo expected soon. Rather than making internal decisions, the team has hired experts to create an identity that blends Sialkot’s cricketing heritage with the PSL’s modern vibe.

Officially confirmed as the league’s eighth team, the Sialkot franchise is owned by OZ Developers’ Hamza Majeed, following a high-profile auction at the Jinnah Convention Centre.

With PSL expanding from six to eight teams, the tournament will run from March 26 to May 3. Co-owner Kamil Khan said the squad will focus on top overseas talent while building a strong domestic core to ensure competitive performance.

PSL ANNOUNCED ADMINISTRATIVE CHANGES

Earlier, the PSL management announced significant changes to its administrative and player selection structure ahead of the tournament’s 11th edition.

According to the new framework, player selection for HBL PSL 11 will be carried out through an auction system instead of the traditional draft. Officials said the auction model is aimed at creating more balanced teams while providing players with greater earning opportunities.

Under the revised rules, the concepts of mentors, brand ambassadors and the “right to match” have been abolished. Ahead of the auction, each franchise will be allowed to retain up to four players, with a maximum of one player from each category.

In addition, both new teams joining the league will be given the opportunity to select four players each before the auction process begins. Franchises have also been permitted to directly sign one international player, provided that the player was not part of the 2025 edition of the tournament.
