PSX opens with marginal gains

KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock exchange (PSX) showed some marginal gains in the morning. The benchmark KSE-100 index rose by 84.39 points or 0.18 per cent as trading began.

After last night’s close of 47,447.96 points, the market was hovering at 47,532.34 points as of 9:40AM.

Yesterday, the market witnessed an overall loss of 770.53 points by close of the trading day.

With the country’s budget deficit of 7.7 per cent, amounting to Rs6.521 trillion, for the fiscal year 2022-23 and the State Bank of Pakistan’s that the central government’s total debt amounted to Rs60.839 trillion in FY23, investor sentiments may be dimmed.

This, paired with a poor inflation outlook, is likely to affect trader sentiment this week.
