PTA allows telecom operators to raise mobile package prices by up to 33%

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has allowed mobile network operators to increase the prices of selected call and data packages by up to 33%, with revised tariffs now applicable across a range of daily, weekly, fortnightly and monthly bundles.

In a statement, the regulator said it had published updated tariff details for 15 hybrid and data-only packages on its website, along with enhanced consumer information to help users compare offers across different telecom operators.

Under the revised pricing structure, the cost of monthly call and data packages has increased by up to Rs500, while 15-day bundles have become up to Rs300 more expensive. Weekly hybrid packages have seen price hikes of up to Rs130, three-day packages by up to Rs21, two-day packages by up to Rs20, and one-day hybrid packages by up to Rs5.

The PTA said the new tariff sheets include the latest prices of existing packages offered by mobile operators, as well as detailed information on each package’s validity, pricing and benefits on a quarterly basis.

According to the regulator, the updated consumer awareness section is intended to enable users to compare packages offered by different mobile companies more easily. The PTA said promoting transparency in the telecommunications sector and safeguarding consumer interests remain among its key priorities.
