PTA says internet services fully restored in Islamabad, Rawalpindi after outage

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) said on Sunday that internet services have been fully restored in Islamabad and Rawalpindi after an outage affected several areas of the twin cities.

The PTA said that an optical fibre fault in the network of a telecom operator had been repaired, following which internet services were fully restored.

Earlier, internet services had gone down in several areas of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, causing difficulties for residents.

In its initial statement, the PTA said that a cut in an optical fibre cable had affected the services of a telecom operator, resulting in partial disruption to the networks of some service providers.

The regulator said the disruption was limited to some local and surrounding areas. Internet services in the central and southern parts of the country remained normal, although some areas in the northern region were also affected.

The PTA had said that its technical teams were working to repair the optical fibre cable and restore services, adding that full restoration could take several hours.
