
PTI Activist Shayan Ali booked under terrorism, sedition charges

ISLAMABAD – Shayan Ali, a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activist based in London, has been charged with sedition and terrorism offenses following allegations of insulting a judicial officer through his social media posts.
The Ramna police station in Islamabad Capital Territory has registered a case against Shayan Ali, a prominent social activist, in connection with the incident.

According to the First Information Report (FIR), the accused allegedly produced videos targeting a judicial officer in London and purportedly attempted an assault on the said officer, an attack that was thwarted by security personnel.
In the reported videos, the judicial officer was derogatorily referred to as a “gangster” and a “money seller.” The FIR also implicates Sara Mir Gilgati and Imran Khalil, who were claimed to be involved in PTI London activities alongside Shayan Ali.
Adil Farooq Raja is mentioned in the FIR as having an online presence linked to the case. Authorities assert that such incidents have contributed to a climate of apprehension and fear.
These actions are being construed as a manifestation of ‘terrorism,’ according to the FIR.
