PTI Chairman orchestrated May 9 vandalism, says Bugti

ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Interior Minister Sarfraz Bugti has claimed that the Chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was the “mastermind” behind the turmoil on May 9 that targeted security institutions.
Bugti conveyed his views during an interview with a private television channel, stating that May 9 marked a somber day in Pakistan’s history.
He stressed that individuals found culpable for criminal activities against national and security establishments would face legal consequences.
Addressing the ongoing delay in the general elections, Bugti emphasized the essential nature of delimitation for conducting transparent polls throughout the nation.
ECP considering early election schedule announcement
He indicated that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) would establish the election date after accomplishing the delimitation process.
Responding to inquiries about the resurgence of terrorism, Bugti asserted that terrorists were utilizing hideouts in Afghanistan.
He noted that a significant portion of the border adjoining Afghanistan, approximately 645 kilometers, had been fenced to curb cross-border movement. Regarding the challenge of curbing dollar smuggling, he acknowledged its complexity.
Regarding the presence of undocumented Afghan nationals in various parts of Pakistan, Bugti revealed that a comprehensive strategy was being formulated to regulate the influx of unregistered and illegal Afghan migrants into the region.
On the topic of escalating inflation, Bugti highlighted Pakistan’s abundant agricultural and mineral resources. He expressed the commitment to attract foreign investment to the country through rigorous efforts.
