RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) nominee for chairman Barrister Gohar Khan has said that the chief election commissioner had failed to perform his duty of conducting fair and transparent elections and he should resign from his post immediately.
Talking to the media outside Adiala jail after a meeting with PTI founder Imran Khan, Barrister Gohar said that they have reached an agreement with the Sunni Ittehad Council.
He said that he had discussed the agreement with the PTI founder and briefed him on the agreement with the Sunni Ittehad Council.
He said that yesterday they had sent a list of 50 elected MNAs to the election commission, and today they will submit the list of members of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab assemblies to the election commission.
He said that they will file application in the election commission for allocating reserved seats for the party.
He hoped that the election commission would give them the reserved seats, and their candidates would join the Sunni Ittehad Council.
The PTI leader said that they had repeatedly said that PTI had won 180 seats of the National Assembly, and they had demanded that Form 47 be compiled according to Form 45.
He said that they had appealed to the election commission for fair and transparent elections, but the election commission had failed to hold fair and transparent elections.
Barrister Gohar further said that their demand was that the result be compiled according to Form 45, but the chief election commissioner had failed to perform his duty of fair and transparent elections and he had now become controversial.
He said that the PTI now demands that the chief election commissioner resign from his post immediately.
He said that it was the responsibility of the election commission to hold the elections, and transparent investigations should be conducted on electoral rigging.
