ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is holding a virtual Jalsa on various social media platforms, despite the ongoing disruption in online services.

The virtual Jalsa, which started on Sunday, features speeches from PTI leaders and supporters from different parts of the country and the world at large.

According to PTI’s official Twitter account, the virtual Jalsa is being attended and addressed by PTI leaders including Rauf Hassan, Momina Niazi, Taimur Jhagra, Kanwal Shauzab, Hafiz Farhat Abbas and others. PTI workers are also participating in the virtual rally from their homes, chanting slogans in favour of the party leadership.

The PTI’s virtual rally is being streamed live on YouTube and Twitter, where it has attracted thousands of viewers.

As of 10 pm Sunday night, the PTI official YouTube channel had more than 82,000 live viewers, while the Twitter stream had over 40,000 viewers. The numbers fluctuated as some users faced difficulties in accessing the platforms due to the internet disruption.

The PTI’s virtual rally comes amid a social media disruption in Pakistan that has affected several online services, including Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Messenger.

The cause of the disruption is still unclear, but Netblocks said the disruption started around 8 pm, coinciding with the virtual rally of the PTI.
