PTI leader Sanam Javed drops out of NA-119 race

LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) leader Sanam Javed has decided not to contest the election from NA-119, her sister announced on Monday.
In a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter), Falak Javed said that her sister had withdrawn her candidacy in favour of an independent candidate, Mian Shahzad Farooq. She said that Farooq’s election campaign would be “considered as her sister’s campaign”.
She also expressed hope that Sanam Javed would soon be “seen in the National Assembly”.

Sanam Javed, who was arrested twice on charges of torching a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) office, was granted bail by the Anti-Terrorism Court in Lahore last week before she was arrested in another case on Monday.
The Supreme Court (SC) had allowed Sanam Javed to contest the elections for National Assembly seats from NA-119 and NA-120 constituencies, and provincial assembly seat from PP-150 constituency.
The SC had directed the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to publish and print the name of the PTI candidate allowed to contest the general election scheduled for February 8.
