ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) misused government resources during their tenure diverting significant financial assets totaling RS 870 million towards politically motivated activities, according to insider sources.

The funds in question were allegedly allocated for purposes unrelated to their intended use and were instead funneled into PTI’s social media teams and accounts. These actions are reported to have been unauthorized and politically driven.

These accounts have been implicated in various alleged wrongdoings, including the dissemination of false information targeting political adversaries, as well as artificially inflating their follower counts through the misuse of government resources.

Troublingly, even as the government’s term drew to a close, the alleged misuse of PTI funds continued unabated. Sources have disclosed that PTI workers persisted in operating these accounts, originally financed with public funds. Employees recruited for these tasks were reportedly receiving salaries ranging from 25 to 40 thousand rupees, further fueling concerns about the misallocation of resources.
