ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) parliamentary committee has approved strict action against members who defected from the party and voted in favour of the recently enacted constitutional amendment.

The parliamentary committee also approved a schedule for nationwide rallies and protests.

A meeting of PTI’s parliamentary party was held under the chair of Opposition Leader Omar Ayub, with special participation from Secretary General Salman Akram Raja.

The PTI parliamentary party gave its nod to joining the Judicial Commission of Pakistan and endorsed the decision made by the political committee. The committee also approved a schedule for rallies and a broader protest movement, with members pledging active participation in these events.

The meeting reviewed the current National Assembly session, the 26th amendment, and the prevailing political landscape. Legal strategies were also discussed to counter political cases against PTI’s founding leader.

The official statement said that the protest against the “unjust imprisonment” of PTI’s founder would continue robustly, describing his detention as politically motivated solitary confinement.

The committee expressed deep appreciation for the unwavering support of assembly members, particularly those from Punjab, stating that all members have stood firmly with the founding leader’s ideology.
