PTI to write letter to IMF to halt aid over alleged rigging in elections

On Thursday, Barrister Ali Zafar announced that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) would be writing a letter to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on behalf of its founder, urging the cessation of support for Pakistan in light of alleged “rigged elections.”

Speaking to the media in Rawalpindi alongside PTI leaders, Barrister Ali Zafar said that according to the IMF and European Union (EU) charters, loans will be given to the country only when there is good governance. International organizations do not work in countries where there is no democracy.

Barrister Ali Zafar said that the whole world has seen that people’s votes were stolen in the darkness of night. The constituencies where rigging occurred need to be audited, and the auditing process should also include a judicial review. If there is no audit, taking a loan from the IMF would be detrimental to the country.
