Peshawar court orders Yousafzai to pay ANP Chief Rs150m in defamation case

PESHAWAR: A district and session court in Peshawar on Monday, ordered Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shaukat Yousafzai to pay Rs150 million in damages for a defamation case filed by Awami National Party (ANP) Chief Asfandyar Wali Khan.

In 2019, Asfandyar Wali, filed a defamation case against Shaukat Yousafzai. According to the petitioner’s lawyer, Yousafzai accused Wali of engaging in a $25 million deal with Pashtuns during the party’s government in KP.

The verdict on the defamation case was delivered by Additional Session Judge Ejazur Rehman, who noted that Yousafzai failed to appear before the court despite receiving notices.
