All public transport services in Islamabad will be made free for commuters for the next 30 days, following directives issued by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif as part of a public relief initiative.

The decision, which takes effect from tomorrow, is aimed at easing the financial burden on residents amid rising living costs. Officials said the move will allow citizens to use buses and other public transport services in the federal capital without any fare during the one-month period.

According to the announcement, the Ministry of Interior will cover the cost of the initiative, with an estimated expenditure of Rs350 million allocated for the programme.

Authorities say the measure is intended to provide immediate relief to daily commuters, particularly those relying on public transport for work and essential travel. Further details regarding implementation and coverage of services are expected to be issued by relevant departments.
