Punjab Assembly to meet today on transportation matters

LAHORE: The Punjab Assembly is scheduled to hold its 17th session on Friday (today) at 2 pm.
Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan will oversee the proceedings.

The latest session of the provincial government is set to address critical issues concerning the transport sector in the country’s most populous province,.
The provinces transport sector has long faced several issues. With a population of 110 million, Punjab’s transport sector has been criticised for its infrastructure quality, safety standards and overall service efficiency.
During the session, assembly members are expected to respond to inquires related to the transport issues, utilising the zero hour notice mechanism that allows for urgent matters to be raised.
The assembly is also expected to represent several reports as part of the provincial government’s agenda.
The reports are expected to encompass a variety of topics, including departmental performance evaluations, updates on development initiatives and the status of previously enacted legislation.

The Finance Minister Mohammad Aurangzeb will introduce a motion for a general debate concerning the implication of the recent budget.
The ‘debate’ is expected to include the budget’s impact on education, healthcare, and the province’s infrastructure development.
