Punjab cabinet approves stricter security measures in educational institutions

LAHORE: The Punjab government announced on Wednesday that security will be further strengthened in all educational institutions across the province.
The announcement came during a meeting held at the Department of Interior, chaired by Cabinet Committee on Law and Order Chairman Khawaja Salman Rafique, which conducted a detailed review of security arrangements in provincial institutions.
During the meeting, it was decided that a security audit of all educational institutions would be conducted to identify potential threats and gaps. Khawaja Salman Rafique emphasized that all security guards would receive proper training and that strict compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) would be enforced to ensure the safety of students, teachers, and staff.
He also directed the installation of panic buttons in every institution to allow immediate response in case of emergencies. Provincial and district administration officials provided detailed briefings on existing security measures and plans.
The Cabinet Committee Chairman stated that the protection and security of educational institutions would remain a top priority, and all possible measures would be taken in coordination with law enforcement agencies. The initiative aims not only to safeguard students and staff but also to create a safe and peaceful environment conducive to education.
