Punjab caretaker CM orders immediate reduction in transport fares

diesel price reduction

LAHORE: In a significant move aimed at providing relief to the citizens of the province, interim Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi has tasked Deputy Commissioners with ensuring a prompt reduction in intercity transport fares corresponding to the recent decrease in diesel prices.

The directive comes as part of the government’s commitment to passing on the benefits of reduced petroleum product prices directly to the people.

CM Naqvi emphasised that the reduction in intercity transport fares is essential to alleviate the financial burden on the common man, particularly during challenging economic times. In a statement released earlier today, Naqvi underscored the government’s commitment to prioritising the welfare of the people and ensuring that the advantages of declining fuel prices are reflected in transportation costs.

All Deputy Commissioners have been given a strict deadline to communicate the revised fare structures to transporters by tonight. The Chief Minister has called for swift and comprehensive action against transporters who fail to comply with the directive, emphasising that non-compliance will not be tolerated.

“Intercity transport fares should be reduced to give relief to the common man,” CM Naqvi said. He further highlighted that the government is determined to take indiscriminate action against any transporters found violating the order.

This move by the chief minister is expected to have a direct impact on the cost of living for residents, making transportation more affordable and accessible. It reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring that the benefits of economic improvements, such as the reduction in diesel prices, translate into tangible advantages for the public.
