Punjab CM announces highest civil honour for late Pattoki AC Furqan Ahmed

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced the province’s highest civil award and a financial grant of Rs 10 million for the family of late assistant commissioner Pattoki Furqan Ahmed Khan. The AC had tragically passed away during flood relief operations while battling cancer.

Despite being seriously ill, Furqan served tirelessly for four consecutive days in flood-hit areas of Pattoki, leading critical rescue and relief efforts. He ensured timely delivery of food, medicine, and essential supplies to affected families, displaying extraordinary dedication in the face of life-threatening conditions.

Paying tribute to his services, CM Maryam Nawaz said, “He is a true hero who sacrificed his life while helping people in the most difficult situations. His sense of duty will always be remembered.”

Furqan’s unwavering commitment to public service in the face of personal hardship has been widely lauded across the province. His efforts are being held up as a shining example of courage, selflessness, and public duty.

The posthumous recognition and financial support are part of the Punjab government’s initiative to honour public servants who go above and beyond in the line of duty.

AC FURQAN PASSED AWAY ON A FLOOD RELIEF TRIP

Furqan Ahmed had passed away from a heart attack while visiting flood-affected areas at Head Balloki on the Ravi River, on Saturday.

A statement from the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab had announced his demise, adding that he was on an official visit to assess the flood situation when he suffered a heart attack, which proved fatal.

PDMA Director General Irfan Ali Kathia, expressed sorrow over the incident and offered prayers for the deceased officer. Condolences also poured in from the batch mates of the departed.
