Punjab govt hikes Lahore Ring Road toll tax by 20 percent

LAHORE: In a series of economic adjustments, following increases in car prices, petrol rates, and licence fees, Punjab authorities have now implemented a toll tax hike on the Lahore Ring Road.
The Lahore Ring Road Authority has raised toll taxes by 20 percent, affecting a range of vehicles from private cars to heavy trucks.
Private cars and jeeps face a Rs. 10 increase, bringing their toll tax to Rs. 60 from the previous Rs. 50 per trip.
Similarly, passenger vans and coasters will now be paying Rs. 120, up from Rs. 100, reflecting a Rs. 20 increment.
Lahore Ring Road, motorway closed due to fog
For passenger buses, the toll tax has been elevated by Rs. 50, making the new total Rs. 300, compared to the previous Rs. 250.
Meanwhile, the toll tax for loader trucks, pick-ups, and dumpers has surged from Rs. 300 to Rs. 360, marking a significant Rs. 60 rise.
Finally, heavy vehicles face the steepest increase, with their toll tax soaring to Rs. 600 from the previous Rs. 500, representing a substantial inflation of Rs. 100.
Meanwhile Lahore Ring Road Southern Loop 3 project is expected to be finished in just 5 months
Previously, there were court cases surrounding the project, but they have now been resolved, clearing the way for its progress.
The project’s path through Bahria Town received tremendous support from the housing society all obstacles have been removed, and the entire area for the project is now clear.
The completion of the Ring Road Southern Loop 3 will significantly ease traffic congestion for those travelling from South Punjab to Lahore, relieving pressure on Thokar and Canal Road. The residents of all Housing Schemes around Multan Road will also benefit from the project.
