Punjab govt notifies school reopening date, announces new timings

LAHORE: The Punjab government on Friday announced that all public and private schools across Punjab will reopen on Monday, August 24.
The provincial school education department has also issued revised timings for educational institutions.
The new schedule for government schools will remain in effect from August 24 to October 15, 2026, according to a notification issued by the Punjab School Education Department.
Under the revised timings, single-shift schools will operate from 8am to 1:30pm from Monday to Thursday, while on Friday, classes will end at 12:45pm.
For double-shift schools, the morning shift will run from 8am to 12:30pm from Monday to Thursday and from 8am to noon on Friday.
The evening shift at double-shift schools will operate from 1pm to 5:30pm from Monday to Thursday, while on Friday, it will run from 2pm to 5:30pm.

The Punjab School Education Department has directed chief executive officers and district education authorities to ensure strict implementation of the revised schedule.
The education department’s announcement comes amid reports and rumours on social media that the summer holidays in Punjab had been extended and schools and colleges would remain closed for a longer period.
The Punjab School Education Department clarified that educational institutions across the province would reopen on August 24 according to the announced schedule.
The department has now formally issued the revised timings, confirming that schools will resume regular academic activities from Monday.
Parents and students have been advised to follow the new schedule and contact their respective schools or district education authorities for any institution-specific instructions.
