Punjab govt relaxes timings for eateries as AQI level improves

LAHORE: The Punjab government on Monday issued a notification, relaxing timings for hotels and restaurants after the technology-induced artificial rain brought marked improvement in overall environment across the province with the Air Quality Index (AQI) improving considerably.

According to the notification issued by the department of environment, hotels, restaurants and food outlets will remain opened till 10pm with no ban on 24-hour home deliveries.

Earlier, the Punjab government had issued the standard operating procedures (SOPs) for hotels, establishments and educational institutions as part of a drive to control smog and rising pollution.

The provincial government had earlier ordered markets and shopping malls to close down by 8pm and violators also faced the music with 56 shops and three barbeque points sealed across the province.
