LAHORE: The Punjab Government announced a province-wide ban on plastic bags. The decision emerged from a session chaired by Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, which scrutinized the performance of various departments and stakeholders engaged in combating air pollution.

Aurangzeb emphasised the enforcement of the ban on plastic bags throughout Punjab, set to take effect from June 6. Additionally, she highlighted the launch of public awareness campaigns aimed at smog eradication initiatives.

Furthermore, Aurangzeb unveiled plans to subsidize the production of solar panels at the local level across Punjab, commending efforts in this sphere. She also announced the implementation of solarization programs for all government buildings under the Solar program.

These initiatives reflect the Punjab Government’s proactive stance in addressing environmental challenges and fostering sustainable practices across the province.
