LAHORE: In a strategic move aimed at bolstering religious tourism, the Punjab government, under the leadership of Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, has given the green light for the development of a state-of-the-art resort connected to the Kartarpur Corridor.

This ambitious project, known as the Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP) Darshan Resort, is set to feature a 50-room hotel catering to the needs of visitors to the revered Kartarpur Corridor.

Caretaker CM Mohsin Naqvi, during a decisive meeting held in Lahore, emphasized the provision of comprehensive facilities to Sikh pilgrims not only at the Kartarpur site but also in Eminabad, Farooqabad, and Nankana Sahib. He reiterated a wholehearted welcome to Sikh pilgrims, underscoring the government’s commitment to fostering religious tourism.

Naqvi, in his proactive approach, has called for a detailed plan for the Kartarpur Darshan Resort, signaling the government’s commitment to ensuring the project’s success.

The Kartarpur Corridor, a visa-free border crossing and religious corridor, links the historic Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Pakistan to Gurudwara Dera Baba Nanak in Gurdaspur district, Punjab, India. First proposed in 1999 by then-Prime Ministers Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Nawaz Sharif, the corridor was part of the Delhi–Lahore Bus diplomacy. It was successfully completed in time for the 550th anniversary of Guru Nanak’s birth on November 12, 2019.
