Punjab introduces home renewal service for learner permits

LAHORE: In a groundbreaking development, the Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) of Lahore, Amara Athar, has announced a new addition to the realm of online services – citizens can now conveniently renew their learner permits from the comfort of their homes.

This comes as an extension to the existing Online Fresher Learner Permit facility already in place.

CTO Lahore, Amara Athar, shared that besides learner permits the online services will soon extend to include license renewal, duplicate requests, and international licenses, aiming to provide citizens with a comprehensive and hassle-free experience.

Highlighting the impact of these online initiatives, Athar noted a significant 90% reduction in rush at traditional service centers.

This shift towards digital services aligns with efforts to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.

Meanwhile, the issuance of driving licenses has witnessed a remarkable surge, with over 200,000 citizens across Punjab receiving licenses. A spokesperson for Punjab Police revealed that this represents a 25-fold increase compared to the previous year.

On the last day alone, a noteworthy 123,202 citizens, including those from Lahore, opted for online services to obtain licenses. Of these, 76,952 individuals obtained licenses through the traffic police licensing system, as highlighted by the Punjab Police spokesperson.

The move towards online licensing services marks a significant leap in facilitating citizens and adapting to the evolving landscape of administrative convenience.
