Only 20% of agriculture contributes to formation of smog: Secretary Agriculture

LAHORE: A delegation of Chinese environmental experts, currently visiting Lahore to address smog prevention, met with Secretary of Agriculture Nadir Chattha on Tuesday.

After the meeting, Nadir Chattha stated that the expertise and experiences of Chinese environmental experts will be instrumental in controlling smog.

According to Nadir Chattha, only 20 per cent of agriculture contributes to the formation of smog.

In Punjab, wheat is annually cultivated on 6.4 million acres, with rice covering 2.6 million acres. The Secretary of Agriculture in Punjab highlighted that 31 per cent of wheat cultivation utilises mechanised farming, while the remaining 69 per cent relies on traditional methods.
