Punjab police flags 165 Lahore officers over TikTok use

LAHORE: Punjab police have identified hundreds of officers for what it described as unprofessional and excessive use of social media platform TikTok, raising concerns within the department about conduct and discipline.

An internal review found that a significant number of officers, particularly in Lahore and other major cities, were engaged in inappropriate activity on TikTok, officials said.

Authorities have compiled a formal record including account links, names and belt numbers of those involved.

According to departmental documents, 165 officers from Lahore police were found to be using TikTok in violation of guidelines — the highest number recorded for any city in the province.

Sialkot ranked second with 25 officers identified as active TikTok users, followed by Faisalabad and Multan with 13 each, and Bahawalpur with eight.

The report also named personnel from specialised units. Eighteen officers from the Riot Management Police and 13 from the Elite Force were found active on the platform, along with 14 from the Punjab Constabulary and 13 affiliated with various police training colleges.

Officials said that a clear policy governing social media use by police employees is already in place, outlining professional boundaries and precautionary principles. Disciplinary action would be taken against those found in breach of the rules to maintain the force’s integrity and professional standards, they added.
