Punjab smog: govt likely to announce tough decisions tomorrow

LAHORE: Punjab Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, is expected to make tough decisions to combat the pervasive smog in the province. To address the issue, a meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, aiming to strategise comprehensive measures.

Markets expected to close on weekends in the Punjab

One key proposal under consideration is the temporary closure of markets for two days each week. Additionally, the Secretary of Transport will provide insights into implementing measures to curtail vehicular movement, a pivotal step in mitigating air pollution.

Naqvi has instructed Deputy Commissioners to rigorously enforce the ban on crop residue burning. He has also instructed Deputy Commissioners to take strict against tire-burning factories.

Furthermore, Naqvi has directed the Secretary of School Education to ensure the use of masks in primary schools.
