Punjab to offer opportunity for 10,000 people to enroll in a 4-week long online free tour guide programme

LAHORE: The Punjab Tourism Department is set to empower 10,000 individuals by providing free training through a four-week-long online tour guide programme.
According to Secretary of Tourism Punjab, Raja Jahangir Anwar, with over 400 tourist destinations in the province, it is imperative to have skilled tour guides to create a memorable experience for visitors. Anwar said that only a trained tour guide can eloquently narrate the historical significance of these places.
He added that, for the first time, the tour guide course can be completed online through the Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management (ITHM), a government-run tourism organisation, with a very nominal fee. The four-week tour guide course will be extended to 10,000 individuals, and registration will be free for those joining the inaugural batch.
What is the qualification to enroll for tour guide programme Punjab?
The Secretary of Tourism said that candidates from all across Punjab are eligible to apply for this course, with a minimum educational qualification of intermediate, and no age limit. Priority will be given to women and minorities during the admission process.

He said that 70 per cent of the course will be conducted online and 30 per cen at the ITHM Lahore center. Candidates who complete the course will be eligible for a license from the Department of Tourist Services, a department of the Tourism Department.
