Massachusetts: Pakistan’s University of the Punjab (Gujranwala campus) team, comprising Jannat Majid and Sidra Abdul Khaliq and coached by Ahsan Ali, won international recognition after delivering a standout performance at the Boston International Innovation Moot (BIIM) 2026, where they competed against top law schools from around the world, according to participation certificates issued by the organisers.
Representing Pakistan as the sole national entry among 12–15 international teams, the students secured the Best Memorial Awards for both Defence and Prosecution, achieving a rare double victory in the written advocacy category.
According to official results released by the competition organisers, the Pakistani team scored 92 out of 100 on both sides, outperforming teams from countries including India, South Africa, Italy and China.
Dominating the written rounds
The Memorial Award, regarded as one of the most competitive segments of the moot, recognises excellence in legal research, structured argumentation and written advocacy.
By winning awards for both Defence and Prosecution memoranda, the Pakistani team demonstrated strong legal reasoning and the ability to present persuasive arguments from opposing legal positions.
Organisers said the competition brought together universities from Africa, Asia, Europe and South Asia, making the Pakistani team’s achievement particularly notable in a diverse and highly competitive field.
Strong showing in oral advocacy
The team also delivered a strong performance in the oral advocacy rounds, where one of the speakers secured preliminary scores in the 90s, placing among the top-performing advocates in the early rounds.
While the Top Individual Oralist award went to a participant from Namibia, the Pakistani team maintained a strong overall standing through its balanced performance in both written and oral advocacy.
