Qalandars vs Kings: LQ beaten, as Warner, Khushdil lead side for key clashes ahead
KARACHI: Karachi Kings defeated Lahore Qalandars in a key Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11 clash after a strong batting performance from Khushdil Shah and David Warner powered a successful chase.
Chasing a challenging target of 200, Karachi Kings, currently placed lower in the PSL standings, delivered a dominant performance to secure a crucial win.

The Kings opened with skipper David Warner and Jason Roy, who gave the side a confident start. However, Warner was dismissed early for just 9 runs, while Roy also fell cheaply after being bowled by Ubaid Shah.

Despite early setbacks, Moeen Ali and Khushdil Shah steadied the innings. Moeen played a quickfire knock of 39 off 17 balls, while Khushdil Shah remained unbeaten on 44.

A crucial 50-run partnership between Warner (in a supporting role during the chase description earlier corrected to Moeen/Khushdil focus) and Khushdil Shah came off just 18 balls, shifting momentum firmly in Karachi’s favour. Khushdil finished the match with a powerful stroke that sealed victory for his side.

Other contributions came from Salman Agha (14), Reeza Hendricks (10), and Azam Khan (14).

Ultimately, Karachi Kings registered a convincing win over Lahore Qalandars and advanced to their next PSL fixture against Quetta Gladiators on Saturday.
Earlier in the match, Lahore Qalandars had posted a strong total of 199/6 in 20 overs after being put in to bat at Gaddafi Stadium.

Fakhar Zaman and Abdullah Shafique led the innings with blistering half-centuries, building a strong foundation after an early setback.
Fakhar scored 61 off 41 balls, while Shafique made 62 off 36 deliveries. Their 110-run partnership shifted momentum firmly in Lahore’s favour.

Late contributions from Sikandar Raza (18 not out), Daniel Sams (20), and Shaheen Shah Afridi (10 off 4) helped Lahore reach a competitive total.

For Karachi Kings, Moeen Ali was the standout bowler with figures of 2/26, while Rizwanullah and Hasan Ali took one wicket each.
