WEB DESK: A targeted explosion rocked the Kambrani Road area of Quetta on Saturday, though no loss of life was reported, according to local police authorities. The incident involved two separate blasts in close proximity.
Official reports from the police detail that the first explosion was detonated on the roadside. Shortly thereafter, a second, more targeted blast occurred near a vehicle belonging to the Crime Investigation Team (CIT). The device was confirmed to be an Improvised Explosive Device (IED).
The police vehicle sustained partial damage in the attack, but all personnel inside and around the scene emerged unscathed. A swift security response cordoned off the area following the blasts. Investigative and forensic teams were immediately dispatched to the site to collect evidence and begin a thorough probe into the incident.
The apparent targetting of a police investigation unit’s vehicle suggests the attack was designed to cause casualties among security personnel. The successful detonation of an IED on a main road also points to ongoing security challenges in the region. However, the absence of any fatalities has been noted as a fortunate outcome in what could have been a severe tragedy. An investigation is ongoing to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.
