WEB DESK: Hollywood witnessed a deeply emotional moment on Tuesday as Rachel McAdams received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, marking a milestone in a career that spans critically acclaimed films like The Notebook, Mean Girls, Spotlight, and The Family Stone.
At the ceremony on Hollywood Boulevard, McAdams turned the spotlight away from herself, instead celebrating the mentors, family, and loved ones who shaped her journey. She singled out legendary actors, including Gena Rowlands, Sam Shepard, and her cherished mentor Diane Keaton, describing Keaton as a guiding figure who “took me under her wing like I was her own daughter.”

Recalling Keaton’s advice, McAdams shared a piece of wisdom that has stayed with her throughout her career: “No matter how long you’ve been doing this, you have to leave everything you’ve got on the table. Each performance, you must muster up as much love as you possibly can, and then you’ll only feel like a dumb-dumb idiot half of the time in life.”
The moment became even more poignant as McAdams acknowledged her parents for nurturing her dreams from childhood, and her partner Jamie Linden and sister Kayleen for their unwavering support. Fighting back tears, she said, “All of it is because of you and the love you gave us… thank you for believing in me long before I could believe in myself.”
The ceremony also highlighted the rare public glimpse of McAdams’ private life, with Linden, her 7-year-old son, and 5-year-old daughter in attendance. Friends and collaborators, including Domhnall Gleeson and director Sam Raimi, praised her contributions to cinema.
While the star now immortalizes her name on Hollywood Boulevard, McAdams made it clear that this achievement reflects a lifetime of love, guidance, and mentorship: “This star is not just mine; it belongs to everyone who walked with me along the way.”
