WEB DESK: Intermittent rain continued across Islamabad and Rawalpindi on Friday, prompting the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) to remain on high alert amid the ongoing monsoon spell.
WASA Managing Director said emergency teams and heavy machinery had been deployed in low-lying areas to respond to any urban flooding. He added that the authority was continuously monitoring Nullah Lai, where the water flow remained within normal levels. Water also accumulated at Seventh Avenue underpass, disrupting traffic flow in the capital.
According to official figures, 31mm of rainfall was recorded in Saidpur, 40mm in Golra, 17mm in Bokra, 13mm in Shamsabad and 17mm in New Katarian.
Authorities urged residents to remain cautious as rain is expected to continue, while WASA teams remain on standby to deal with any emergency situation.
