More than 100 people lost their lives in Brazil as a result of heavy rains, floods, and landslides.

According to reports, the severe weather conditions have led to widespread devastation, with over 163,000 people rendered homeless and a further 128 reported missing.

The heavy rains triggered flooding and landslides across Brazil, resulting in the destruction of roads, bridges, and dams. The city of Porto Alegre was in particular hard-hit, even becoming isolated from the rest of the country due to the floods.

The local airport and stadium in Porto Alegre were inundated. Aircrafts, runways, and parking lots were also submerged under several feet of water.

Local officials have reported that over 140,000 people have been affected by the raging rivers and floods in the state. The extent of the damage is still not known, though authorities estimate the costs from the floods to cost the Latin American country in billions.
