ISLAMABAD: Senator and Advisor to Prime Minister Rana Sanaullah has issued a sharp warning regarding Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, saying that the possibility of initiating a treason case against the former prime minister “cannot be ruled out.” He suggested that Imran Khan’s political future may mirror that of MQM London and its founder.

In an interview, Sanaullah said the message delivered by the Director General of ISPR during his recent press conference was “blunt, clear, and fully supported by the government.” He warned PTI leaders not to take the remarks lightly, cautioning that doing so could lead to “serious consequences.”

Referring to Imran Khan’s recent comments following a meeting with his sister, Sanaullah said the tone and substance of those statements showed that “the situation has become extremely serious,” adding that “the door for a treason case against Imran Khan is not closed.”

He added that the speeches and statements emerging from PTI’s rallies would soon receive a “strong and prompt response.” According to Sanaullah, the confrontational path adopted by PTI is likely to lead it to the same fate as MQM London. “Just look at where the MQM founder and MQM London stand today,” he remarked.

Taking a sarcastic swipe at the former ruling party, the senator said that soon the country may witness “Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Adiala Tehreek-e-Insaf,” predicting that a large segment of PTI would eventually distance itself from Imran Khan’s current course.

Earlier, Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry said that if there a commotion were to be caused outside Adiala jail or the situation became dangerous for other prisoners, “a prisoner would be transferred.”
