Randy Jackson returned to American Idol for a special Top 5 episode, but what was meant to be a nostalgic moment quickly turned into a wave of concern from viewers.

The former judge appeared as a guest mentor alongside Paula Abdul in a reunion-style episode celebrating the show’s early years. While fans were excited to see one of the programme’s most recognisable faces back on screen, many said his appearance left them worried.

There has been no official update suggesting any new health issue.

A history of health challenges

Jackson has previously been open about his health journey. He was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in 2002 and later underwent gastric bypass surgery, losing more than 100 pounds.

He has also dealt with other medical issues over the years, including spinal surgery following a back injury.
