Sindh Rangers have arrested five alleged members of a criminal gang involved in robberies and street crime during a targeted operation in Karachi’s North Nazimabad and Niazi Manzil areas, according to a spokesperson.

The arrested suspects are linked to the so-called “Tees Mar Khan and Commando gang,” which authorities say has been active in multiple parts of the city, including markets and densely populated neighbourhoods.

During the operation, Rangers recovered weapons, ammunition, mobile phones and cash from the suspects. The seized items include one unlicensed .30 bore pistol, two licensed 9mm pistols, five magazines, and 28 rounds of ammunition. In addition, five mobile phones and an undisclosed amount of cash were also confiscated.

According to initial findings shared by the Rangers, the detained individuals were involved in a series of robberies in areas such as Hyderabad Market, Godhra Chowk and Gulberg Town, often targeting citizens in coordinated street crime incidents.

Investigators further revealed that the suspects had also confessed to carrying out multiple street crime activities in and around the Serena Mobile Market area in Nazimabad and nearby localities. Their alleged crimes included snatching motorcycles, cars, rickshaws and mobile phones from civilians.

One of the arrested suspects, identified as Muhammad Shan, is accused of supplying illegal weapons to criminal elements operating across the city. Officials also said he was involved in the buying and selling of stolen motorcycles, indicating a wider criminal network linked to vehicle theft and trafficking.

Authorities claim the gang has been involved in hundreds of robbery incidents, with estimates suggesting up to 500 cases in which citizens were deprived of motorcycles, mobile phones and cash amounting to nearly Rs4 million.

The suspects are also believed to have resisted victims during robberies, with at least five to six people reportedly injured in past incidents of confrontation.

Rangers described the arrested individuals as repeat offenders with a long history of criminal activity. Several cases are already registered against them at different police stations across Karachi, reflecting their involvement in organised street crime, according to the spokesperson.

Officials added that efforts are underway to trace and arrest other members of the gang who remain at large. The seized weapons, ammunition and recovered stolen items have been handed over to police for further legal proceedings.

The operation is part of ongoing security efforts in Karachi aimed at curbing rising street crime and dismantling organised criminal networks operating in urban areas.
