Rapper Luci4 dead at 23 as ‘BodyPartz’ star’s death raises questions

Rapper Luci4, best known for his viral hit ‘BodyPartz’, has died at the age of 23, with authorities yet to determine the cause of death.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner confirmed that the artist, whose real name was James Dear, died on February 22. His death occurred at a friend’s home in Los Angeles, according to his grandparents, who spoke to TMZ.

Family members said they are seeking answers about the circumstances surrounding his death. They told the outlet they were concerned after learning the rapper’s wallet had been emptied and that they had recently warned him about the people he had been spending time with as his fame grew.

The Los Angeles Fire Department said crews responded to a medical call at the residence at 11:40 am but found the individual already deceased. Police were subsequently notified.

Law enforcement sources told TMZ officers established a crime scene upon arrival. The investigation remains ongoing and it is not yet clear whether foul play is suspected.

Luci4 rose to prominence online as a pioneer of the internet microgenre sigilkore, gaining traction on TikTok in 2021 before signing with Atlantic Records.

His breakout track ‘BodyPartz’ spread widely across social media and was later certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America.

Authorities have not released further details as the investigation continues.
