ISLAMABAD: Afghanistan cricket team captain Rashid Khan has stirred speculation among fans after removing “Lahore Qalandars” — his Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise — from his X bio.
The move comes shortly after Rashid Khan publicly backed the Afghanistan Cricket Board’s (ACB) decision to withdraw from next month’s T20 tri-series in Pakistan amid rising tensions between the two countries.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Rashid had said he “welcomed” the ACB’s decision to pull out of the scheduled three-match series, describing it as the right step in light of the situation along the Pak-Afghan border.
The ACB earlier announced its withdrawal from the series, citing “cross-border escalation” and calling the move a “great loss for Afghanistan’s sports community, its athletes, and the cricketing family.”
While Rashid has not commented on the change to his bio, fans have been quick to link it with the ongoing diplomatic and security tensions between Islamabad and Kabul.
Rashid has been one of the key players for Lahore Qalandars since joining the PSL franchise in 2021, playing a pivotal role in the team’s back-to-back championship wins in 2022 and 2023.
Neither the Qalandars management nor Rashid Khan has issued an official statement so far regarding the removal.
