With WrestleMania 42 fast approaching in Las Vegas, WWE’s latest episode of Raw delivered a high-voltage mix of controversy, confrontation, and calculated chaos. The night didn’t just build matches,it intensified rivalries, blurred reality with storyline, and positioned its biggest stars front and center. Leading that charge was CM Punk, who once again proved why he remains one of the most compelling and unpredictable figures in the industry.
CM Punk Blurs Reality and Rivalry
Punk opened the show with a promo that quickly shifted from routine to explosive. Addressing the ongoing tension with Roman Reigns, Punk leaned into the animosity, stating that being disliked by Reigns only confirmed he was exactly where he needed to be. Rather than seek approval, Punk emphasised authenticity a theme that resonated strongly with the live crowd.
But Punk didn’t limit his targets to Reigns. He took sharp verbal shots at Pat McAfee, questioning his credibility and dismissing his place in WWE. More notably, Punk stepped beyond typical storyline boundaries by referencing rising ticket prices and even calling out Ari Emanuel. That rare blend of storyline and real-world commentary added a newsworthy edge to the segment, drawing a strong reaction from fans.
By the time Punk closed his promo stating he wanted ticket prices lowered so families could watch him defeat Reigns the message was clear, this wasn’t just entertainment, it was positioning. Punk is aligning himself as both a disruptor and a voice for the audience, a role that could significantly shape the WrestleMania narrative.
In the ring, tensions continued to rise as Seth Rollins was greeted by a thunderous crowd singing his entrance theme, Rollins wasted little time outlining his intentions ahead of WrestleMania.
Set to face Gunther, Rollins acknowledged the lack of personal history between the two but framed the match around higher stakes. His primary objective is reclaiming the World Heavyweight Championship he never lost, while also addressing what he described as a larger power dynamic involving Paul Heyman.
The situation turned physical when Gunther launched a surprise attack. What followed was a short but intense brawl that saw both men exchange momentum. Gunther ultimately gained the upper hand, countering Rollins’ offense and delivering a decisive blow before retreating backstage.
While the storyline may lack deep roots, the in-ring intensity suggests this matchup could emerge as one of the standout contests at WrestleMania.
Lesnar vs Femi and a Card Taking Shape
Another major development came during the highly anticipated contract signing between Brock Lesnar and Oba Femi. Although promoted as a formal segment, the situation quickly broke down into a physical confrontation before any agreement could be finalised.
With Paul Heyman hyping the match as one of the biggest in WrestleMania history, expectations were already high. Lesnar entered with his usual composed intensity, but Femi matched him step for step, receiving strong crowd support.
The altercation escalated rapidly. Femi struck first, sending Lesnar into the ring post, which triggered a full-scale brawl. Moments later, both men crashed through a table, forcing security to intervene. Even then, control remained elusive as Lesnar and Femi repeatedly broke free to continue fighting, using chairs and brute force to assert dominance.
Notably, no contract was signed during the segment. However, the match itself remains firmly set for WrestleMania, with this encounter serving to heighten anticipation rather than finalise terms.
From a broader perspective, the feud represents a classic clash of eras as we see Lesnar as the established force and Femi as the rising powerhouse. The balance of offense in this segment suggests WWE is positioning Femi as a legitimate threat heading into the event.
In the tag team division, Logan Paul and Austin Theory continue to generate momentum following their recent championship victory. Their win, aided by social media personality IShowSpeed, has added an unconventional element to the storyline.
This week, Theory faced LA Knight in singles action, with outside interference again playing a role. The involvement of Logan Paul and Speed reinforced the faction’s opportunistic style, while also setting the stage for a newly confirmed six-man tag team match at WrestleMania.
The inclusion of Speed, who is expected to compete in his first official match—adds a unique dynamic. While unconventional, his athleticism and growing comfort in the role have made him an effective addition to the storyline.
With just one more Raw remaining before WrestleMania 42, WWE appears to be finalizing its key narratives while leaving enough unpredictability to maintain intrigue. The card is nearly complete, but the intensity of recent segments suggests that the emotional and physical stakes are still escalating.
At the center of it all is CM Punk, whose ability to blur fiction and reality has once again shifted the conversation. Meanwhile, stars like Seth Rollins, Gunther, Brock Lesnar, and Oba Femi are ensuring that once the bell rings, the action will match the buildup.
As WrestleMania draws closer, one thing is certain: this is no longer just about matches. It’s about moments and the biggest players are making sure theirs can’t be ignored.
