Rawalpindi announces closure of educational institutions on Chehlum

RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi district administration has announced a public holiday for all government and private educational institutions within the limits of Rawalpindi city on the occasion of Chehlum.

The Rawalpindi deputy commissioner said that the holiday will not be applicable to institutions located in Cantonment Board areas.

He further said that markets and commercial centres along the procession routes will also remain closed during the Chehlum procession as part of security arrangements.

Earlier, a public holiday for Lahore was also announced to mark the 983rd annual Urs of Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh (RA) on Tuesday.

According to a notification, the holiday will apply only to Lahore district and its subordinate government offices. The Punjab Civil Secretariat, attached departments, and regional offices will continue their routine operations.
