Rawalpindi ATC issues orders to arrest and present Aleema Khan

RAWALPINDI: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Rawalpindi has once again issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for Aleema Khan, ordering her arrest and production before the court on November 17.

This is the tenth time that arrest warrants have been issued for Aleema Khan.

The case, which was heard by ATC Judge Amjad Ali Shah, pertains to the November 26 protest for which a case was registered at the Sadiqabad Police Station against Aleema Khan and 11 other accused. The charges include arson, interference in government affairs, and inciting party workers to engage in violent protest.

During Thursday’s proceedings, Aleema Khan and her legal team failed to appear before the court. In response, the court issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for her. Other accused named in the case were present in court. The hearing was adjourned until November 17, with orders for Aleema Khan’s arrest and mandatory appearance on that date.

During the previous hearing of the on November 26 violence case in the ATC Rawalpindi, 10 other accused and prosecution witnesses appeared in the court but Aleema Khan and her lawyers were absent.

The court issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for Aleema Khan during that hearing as well, while a report on blocking Aleema Khan’s passport and identity card by NADRA was also submitted to the court.

During the hearing, the court ordered the owner of the vehicle, Arif Khan, to be sent to jail for failing to produce the bond of accused Arif Khan, who had taken custody of the vehicle during the protest.

Earlier in November, the ATC Islamabad also issued arrest warrants for Aleema Khan and her sister Uzma Khan, along with other accused members of the Pakistan Tehreeke-e-Insaf (PTI) party. ATC Judge Tahir Abbas Supra issued arrest warrants for Aleema Khan and Uzma Khan for their continued non-appearance. That hearing has been adjourned until November 22.
