RAWALPINDI: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Rawalpindi on Tuesday ordered the seizure of bail bonds belonging to Aleema Khan, sister of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, after she failed to appear for a scheduled hearing in a protest-related case.
The court was hearing a case registered against Aleema Khan and 11 other accused in connection with the November 26 protest. Despite being summoned, neither Aleema Khan nor her legal counsel appeared before the judge.
Taking notice of the absence, the court issued bailable arrest warrants for Aleema Khan, along with notices pertaining to the cancellation of her bail and contempt of court proceedings.
During the hearing, the prosecution urged the court to confiscate her bail bonds, arguing that the accused had previously given an assurance that she would attend all hearings without fail. The court accepted the request and ordered the seizure of two bail bonds, each valued at Rs 1 million.
The hearing was subsequently adjourned until December 15.
