RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi Traffic Police have announced diversions and alternative routes to minimise congestion during the second T20 International match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka at the Rawalpindi Stadium on Sunday evening.

The police have deployed more than 315 personnel to manage traffic within the city and around the stadium.

A traffic police spokesperson said that diversions during the movement of the teams would be kept to a minimum to ensure smooth traffic flow.

The spokesperson said that traffic coming from Islamabad will be diverted from Faizabad towards the Expressway during the teams’ movement, while traffic travelling from Rawalpindi to Islamabad will be diverted in phases at three locations.

The Stadium Road will remain completely closed in both directions between 9th Avenue Chowk and Double Road during the match.

Chief Traffic Officer Rawalpindi Farhan Aslam said that parking facilities had been arranged for cricket fans at three locations.

He said traffic updates would be shared through the traffic police’s official social media accounts and radio stations throughout the matches.

Aslam urged the public to cooperate with traffic personnel, who would remain deployed across the city to ensure smooth traffic flow.
