RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Traffic Police have issued a traffic plan for the Pakistan-Sri Lanka T20 series and the upcoming three-nation cricket series, with more than 315 personnel to be deployed during the matches and practice games.

Pakistan and Sri Lanka will play their first practice match at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Tuesday, October 6.

According to the traffic plan, additional personnel will be deployed to keep traffic flow on alternative routes during the matches and team movements.

Traffic will be diverted to alternative routes for the shortest possible time when the teams move between their designated locations, the traffic police said.

During team movement, traffic coming from Islamabad will be diverted from Faizabad towards the Expressway.

Traffic travelling from Rawalpindi towards Islamabad will be diverted in stages from three locations.

In the first stage, traffic will be diverted from 6th Road, followed by Rehmanabad in the second stage and Chandni Chowk in the third.

During the matches, Stadium Road will remain completely closed in both directions from the 9th Avenue Chowk to Double Road.

Traffic coming from Islamabad towards Stadium Road via 9th Avenue will be able to enter Rawalpindi through Faizabad and IJP Road.

During the matches, traffic travelling from 9th Avenue towards Islamabad will be able to reach the capital via Faizabad.

The traffic police have also arranged parking facilities for cricket spectators at three locations.

The traffic police said updates about the traffic situation in the city during the matches would be provided through its official social media pages and radio stations.

Chief Traffic Officer Rawalpindi Farhan Aslam urged citizens to cooperate with traffic police to ensure smooth traffic flow during the matches.

“Traffic flow during the matches also depends on the cooperation of citizens,” he said, adding that traffic police would remain fully engaged in efforts to keep traffic moving across the city.

The Pakistan-Sri Lanka fixtures are part of a T20 cricket schedule in Rawalpindi, which also includes a three-nation series involving Pakistan and Sri Lanka along with a third participating team.
