Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Ray Stevens is recovering after breaking his neck in a fall, according to a statement shared on his official X account.

The 87-year-old country star was briefly hospitalised after the incident, which took place late last month. He has since returned home and is expected to wear a neck brace for around four weeks.

“He remains fully mobile and in good spirits,” the statement said.

Stevens, known for blending humour with social commentary, rose to prominence with hits including the Grammy-winning ‘Everything Is Beautiful’ and novelty track ‘The Streak’, which captured a 1970s cultural craze.

Born Harold Ray Ragsdale, his decades-long career has also included satirical songs such as Jeremiah Peabody’s Poly Unsaturated Quick Dissolving Fast Acting Pleasant Tasting Green and Purple Pills’, poking fun at advertising culture.

The update comes months after Stevens suffered a mild heart attack in July 2025, followed by surgery that led to the cancellation of performances at his CabaRay Showroom in Nashville.

Despite his recent health setbacks, his latest album is still expected to be released this week.
