Dubai residents received emergency alerts on Friday after the UAE Ministry of Interior warned of a potential missile threat and urged the public to immediately seek shelter.
Notifications sent to mobile phones across parts of Dubai instructed people to move into the nearest secure building and remain away from windows, doors and open areas until further instructions from authorities.
Officials said the warning was issued as a precautionary measure and stressed the importance of following safety guidance without delay.
The ministry also warned residents not to risk their safety for social media content after reports that some individuals had left their homes or stopped their vehicles to film videos following the alerts. Authorities said ignoring safety instructions could lead to legal consequences.
Drivers who receive such alerts while on the road were advised not to stop suddenly on highways or exit their vehicles. Instead, they should continue to their destination and take shelter in a secure building once they arrive.
Authorities also urged the public to follow official government channels for updates as the situation develops and noted that compliance with emergency instructions is essential for public safety.
